FASHION X DALLAS – CRÈME DE LA CRÈME

IMG_6663Dallas fashion won’t soon forget the incredible runway event that was Fashion X Dallas. Produced by Matt Swinney, who also produces Austin Fashion Week, this event has been over a year in the making, and it showed. 3 nights, over 30 designers showing on the runway and displaying their work in The Gallery, and more than 20 hours of fashion brought an event that Dallas has never experienced before. Combining emerging designers with established designers from all over the world and Project Runway All Stars, the energy and anticipation were on high until the last model disappeared from the runway. This is a huge step in the progression of Dallas fashion, and the level of success this event achieved is a fair indicator of growth. With impeccable organization, high production quality, a luxurious VIP lounge, and a variety of designers, this is exactly what Dallas needed. Attending all three days, choosing favourites from the impressive line up was not an easy task, but these are my picks from Fashion X Dallas 2014. fashionx729Ese Azenabor enchanted the crowd with her signature intricate beading and designs combined with a new silhouette not previously seen in her collections. IMG_6598 Project Runway All Star Daniel Esquivel brought the wardrobe of a chic spy with Bond-esque music, a red/black/white palette, and fierce black berets paired with blood red lips. His collection should be in the closet of every Femme Fatale.fashionx352 Nine Muses incorporated white capes, long silhouettes, and manipulated images printed on fabric to portray the image of a globe-trotting socialite. They were also the recipients of the first-ever Dallas Fashion Fund, winning two top-of-the-line machines from sponsor BERNINA. fashionx615 A pleasant surprise in the sustainable clothing subset, S.T.E.F. incorporated sustainable and natural fabrics while maintaining sophisticated designs and flattering cuts.IMG_6637 Mychael Knight balanced demure cuts with mesh and sheer fabrics. A standout detail in his presentation was the delicate mesh collar paired with exposed midriff. fashionx494 Rare Trends out of Austin focused on a variety of fabrics and textures elevated by the use of metallic details and modern cuts. One of my favourite pieces from the show was this leather, textured jacket with an iridescent glaze. Links Fashion X Dallas Ese Azenabor Daniel Esquivel Nine Muses S.T.E.F.
