DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – MONTECRISTI {TRAVEL DAIRY}

IMG_1573

I recently visited  the Dominican Republic and took a mini road trip to a part of the island I’ve never been to; Montecristi-  It is located in the northwest of the country near the coastal lowlands, close to the border with HaitiI also got the chance to go to Salinas, where I visited the salt flats – Salinas is one of the largest salt production zones in the country. A historic church of the early 20th century is at one end of the town square along other luxurious victorian houses built on wide boulevards, almost like a glimpse of the past frozen in time, it was beautiful. There isn’t a lot of tourism in this Victorian-esque town, but those that visit get to enjoy Cayo Cabrita and El Morro beaches pictured here.
