Marie Ségolène is a visual artist from Montreal, Canada, that works mostly in performance, sculpture and photography. She just recently started a bi-weekly series on IXdaily called INTIMATE where she shares pictures of musicians and bands that she loves in an intimate/raw/natural context. Interested in exploring the idea of performance and the way that fits into day to day life of musicians and artists is what drives her and her work. She has been travelling for awhile and working on a series of portraits with women that inspire her, most of them are visual artists or musicians (Labanna Babalon, Leah Meltzer, Jane Penny from ‘TOPS’).
In Montreal Ségolène founded The Room 22 Collective in 2009. Her work mostly deals with themes related to personal mythologies, and the body. She graduated with a B.A. in Creative Writing from Concordia University in 2013, and is currently completing a second B.A. in Studio Arts with a specialization in sculpture. Her poetry has recently been published in the Queer Issue of Poetry is Dead Magazine as well as on Ssissterss. She has also shown work in spaces such as the VAV Gallery and OFF interarts. Ségolène is currently planning performances in NYC, Toronto and Austin for summer 2015 if you wanna catch her on the road!
