Attention Atlantians: kick out the epic this weekend! Imagine Fest happens this weekend and I can hardly wait. This will be Imagine Festival’s second year but it has already been called one of the “best inner-city music festivals” by EDM.COM, touted as cultivating an incredible culture by, ranked as a top emerging music festival by USA today, and named a festival not to miss by multiple other media outlets. I am excited to see if Imagine Festival lives up to the hype!

With a variety of styles of EDM there are sure to be beats for all. From the house styling’s of Dada Life to Glitch Mob‘s glitch hop to  funky Chromeo there should be some kind of beat for even the most discerning EDM taste. I am especially excited to see GRiZ, who produces some funky electronic music and plays the saxophone. I am also looking forward to checking out The Crystal Method, which I have been a fan of since their beginning about 20 years ago. I caught a DJ set of theirs at Bonnaroo in 2010 and was not impressed. I may have been exhausted from the sweltering Tennessee heat but was sorely disappointed by the Crystal Method DJ set so I look forward to seeing what these electronic music pioneers come up with at Imagine Festival. Crystal Method did just put out a remix cd and have scored music for the film The Sisterhood of the Night.

Not only does Imagine Festival have a varied selection of tunes to check out but there is also the Imaginarium, described as a lost civilization that has been rediscovered. The lost city of Imaginarium offers the “opportunity to experience many aspects of this lost civilization, such as wisdom transmissions, ancient mystery sharing, ceremony, and practical applications of earth based concepts.” Sounds pretty funky to me and I’m ready to board the mother ship. There will be a Temple of Knowledge, life painting, flow arts, yoga, meditation, and acro yoga. I will be sure to take a break from the beats and open my mind to all that the Imaginarium has to offer. The Imagine Festival is hosting free yoga and meditation sessions that are completely free and open to attendees and non-attendees as well. The sessions will be held at the Lost City of Imaginarium Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9am-11am before the fest gets started.  I am starting to see why Imagine Festival has received attention as being one of the top festivals not to miss.   Great details like including local artisans and free yoga make the event inclusive and bolster the festival community. Check out Imagine Festival this weekend for all the great music and festival atmosphere.
