DIIV‘s new single “Dopamine“, from their upcoming album Is The Is Are – to be released by Captured Tracks sometime this Fall – evokes a twistingly good sensation. According to Pitchfork’s interview with Zachary Cole Smith, the new record will be more personal for the indie rock band’s frontman; he’s put more of himself and his experiences into the songwriting process. This time round, he wants us to pay attention to the lyrics. And while he says it could turn out to be a “pretty dark and troubled record,” the song “Dopamine” feels light, like reading H.D.’s “Oread” and getting the immediate impression of destruction then realizing to a greater extent that it’s about transformation.

Listen to “Dopamine” below and check out their tour dates.
