West Coast’s babe Joni Payne  is making big moves and she is not holding back for anyone. Her previous singles made their way to our website a couple months back, but today we proudly welcome Joni back with a marvelous project that is ready to be exposed to the masses. Her new EP ‘more to do’ was released today and so is a sweeping short music film directed by Brendan Calder, Tom MacVicar and Joni herself.

‘more to do’ reads and sounds like an eloquent novel about soulful regrets and the existing fight for awakening. For this project, Joni enlisted experienced producer pretty please, for a match made by the R&B God’s themselves. Songs like ‘stars align’ and ‘waking up’ so perfectly expose the polished techniques each artist brings to the table. From Joni simplistic and unapologetic R&B style to the mysterious mature style of pretty please, the two artist showcase a very intimate chemistry and a deep understanding of sorrowing emotion. The whole EP feels like the last toke of a smoke of a cigaret, the last chance to conduct your thoughts before you move on, like the last chance to set the truth free. And the film itself serves as a theatrical invitation at the poetic mind of Joni Payne.

The film is divided into two parts Waking Up ‘Part One’ represents the haunting thoughts that chase your every moment of silence, like how waiting by the microwave for your morning coffee could feeling lonely and regretful. The good and the bad thoughts running heavily through your head like those evenly squared pictures on Instagram. The imagery gives you just that, capturing those moments centered-screen, such a simple yet powerful touch.

During part two, Joni submerges herself into cold water in a beautiful white two-piece gown, as we encounter the strongest imagery and sound from the entire video. Every shot is gasp-worthy, from the wide shots, to the close-ups and the heavy waves crashing into the natural beauty of Joni’s skin. The cinematography captures your attention in a very atmospheric way.

Talking about their project, Joni mentioned to Nakid “It’s a passion project about the transition from feeling stuck in the midst of lost love and memories, into letting go and discovering “sure it was comfortable, floating, going nowhere with you, but there’s so much more to do””
