WORDS AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY MONA CORDES

Paves are described as booze soaked rock band formed in 2015. The London based band headlined a sold out night at the Victoria in Dalston. The support acts came from Medicine Men and Arable Desert, both London based bands making grade rock/ blues rock. Paves are four guys making music in the rock n’ roll genre.

They also had some bigger events happening a little while ago this and last year.

A big highlight for the band was doing a show with the The Gravestones, another London based rock n’ roll band with origin in AustraliaPaves admit that it was an honour to have played with them.
The influences to hear are coming from the bands such as the early Arctic Monkeys or The Rascals. Some old school tones of music made by Neil Young also got influence in their sound. I could hear that live, especially the tone of voice Luke chooses.
Front man, lead singer and guitarist Luke Shield  surely had fun with his band mates on stage jumping up and down the speaker.

It was pleasant to see their energetic show, good vibes got driven into the crowd formed of mostly a bit older than the 20s looking young people. I have seen them once before play a show at Nambucca, North London in a slightly bigger venue than the Dalston Victoria.

I found that the Victoria suited their vibes most perfectly as it had the right size and darkness of the venue to make the band shine more in their sort of 70’s looking outfits. The energy I felt sent out from the drummer who often starts the songs with the rhythm made the whole band stimulate well as a group.

There was only some mosh pitting happening more towards the end of their set which showed that the vibe got driven into crowd. Well, done Paves!

The fun Fact ~ Paves changed their name 3 times from Thieves to Smokey Taboo then what they are called now.

A good show all in all – band rocked their socks off and the crowd took it from there. I’m glad I was part of it.

Surely there will be a lot of exiting things happening in near future.

The people left the room with smiles on their faces. A beautiful sight created by a band playing songs in a small venue, it is much more personal what I love!

Good luck in 2017.
